About the Position
To assist the Store Manager in overseeing the daily function of the store, ensuring the fulfillment of the vision and values of Uchee Pines Institute. The primary goal is to display hospitality, starting with our staff and trainees, and to be extended to our patrons. Country Life has been embraced by the greater Columbus community since 1969. The restaurant serves 35,000 meals per year, and over 50,000 customers patronize the store annually. This affords abundant opportunities each day to share the love of Christ and His saving message, through healthy food and products, through Christian literature and Bible studies, and through the various community health programs we engage in throughout the year. The store and its staff have been instrumental in assisting countless individuals in recovering or maintaining their health, whether physically, mentally, or spiritually. Indeed, several people have been baptized as a result of Bible studies begun or conducted in the store.
What you will be doing
- Assist Store Manager in scheduling staff in the store and restaurant
- Assist Store Manager in purchasing and merchandising
- Receive merchandise/unload delivery trucks (as needed)
- Verify merchandise against invoices (call in credits/damaged or out-dated/close-dated merchandise/missing or incorrect merchandise, etc.)
- Record expiration dates in annual calendar
- Pricing merchandise at proper retail values
- Stocking/re-stocking merchandise throughout store
- Assist with proper storage of all food purchased (frozen and perishable)
- Assist with proper storage of all supplies ordered
- Cashiering
- answer phones/take restaurant and shipping orders
- process shipping orders
- Maintain tea/herb inventory
- Bagging merchandise for sale (as needed)
- Count register tills, submit daily Cash Report to Business Office (as needed)
- Go to the bank for change (as needed)
- Oversee maintenance to ensure building in in good repair
- Drive staff to and from store daily (as needed)
- Assist Store Manager in scheduling outreach programs (cooking classes, lectures, DIYs, etc.)
- Assist in weekly in-store Bible studies (as needed)
- Assist Store Manager with annual Inventory
- Maintain Country Life Facebook page (as needed)
- Assist in scheduling monthly menu with Restaurant Supervisor (as needed)
- Training new staff, work-studies, and interns (as needed)
